Helen Habarth married Gilbert Pecar September 25, 1924. She raised five children in her home. This BLOG is dedicated to her extensive collection of recipes. Helen kept her recipes in a large oak file box. Granddaughter Judy Pecar Crockett compiled many of the recipes, in Helen's own beautiful penmenship, into a cookbook titled: From the Kitchen of Helen Habarth Pecar. The cookies are the 'Butterscotch Cookies' with butter, instead of shortening. I put them in the fridge for the night, sliced them 1/4 inch, and baked them at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. I might try them again with shortening just to see what happens. I also sprinkled some with turbinado sugar just because it was sitting there(Oleson's sells it in their new bulk department so I bought some on a whim). The Maple Icing is exactly her recipe. My new favorite!
